Top High School Seeks Ascension Students!
Bishop McNamara High School visits Ascension Lutheran School 7th and 8th grade students.
The 8th graders were visited by a representative from Bishop McNamara, a private high school in Forestville, Maryland. Many previous Ascension students have attended this prestigious school, and participated in athletics and various clubs the school offers. They also visited earlier, on Wednesday, September 21 and gave some information to 7th and 8th grade parents interested in sending their child to a private school.
Mr. Jones, the Directive Associate of Admissions at McNamara talked to the students about attending there. He brought with him a student representative, Marquell Young, a former student of the Ascension class of 2010. Their presentation lasted for about 45 minutes and got the attention of a lot of 8th graders in the class.
He mentioned that the school offers a wide variety of clubs, from drama to an aviation club. They have a top notch sports program that participates in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. They also offer a traditional African drums program and plenty more programs dealing with the arts. The representative also stressed the importance of good grades and good behavior and how it affects your acceptance in schools around the area. McNamara offers scholarships to elite students and they range from half to full year tuition.
McNamara and any other high schools can be shadowed for a day to visit. This is so that 8th graders can see the life of a 9th grade student in that school. This can help narrow down high school choices for your child. To do this, you must schedule a visit with the school. If you are looking to continue your child in a private school to receive a Christian education, this would be an excellent choice to make.
