About Our School
David Simmons
Director of Music
A native of Pennsylvania and the son of an ELCA Pastor, David Simmons has served as the Director of Music for Ascension Lutheran Church and School for the past thirteen years. He teaches elementary and middle school general music, conducts three school choirs and runs an active opera and musical theatre program. He also conducts a high school/adult church choir, and serves as principal organist and pianist for Ascension Lutheran Church. In addition to his work at Ascension, he is in his eighth year as an cooperating instructor in The Washington National Opera’s Music, Words, Opera and Kids Create Opera programs and his fifth year as a teaching artist in the Choral Arts Society of Washington’s ArtsACCESS program in the DC Public School System. Since September of 2006, Mr. Simmons has also served as the Artistic Director of The Congressional Chorus in Washingon, DC.
