Russ Davis
Computer Technology
Russell “Russ” Davis has been a member of the Ascension family since 2004. He has extensive experience in media relations, photojournalism and electronic technology coupled with high-tech computer training. His technical training includes both Microsoft Windows and Apple's Macintosh platforms.
Russ has taught computer applications classes at the University of Maryland College Park, Prince George's County Public Schools and the private sector. Some of Russ’ classes included layout and design using advance graphic software.
Having served more than 20 years in the United States Coast Guard, Russ is a retired Senior Chief. His duties over two decades of service included Commandant’s Public Affairs staff, Washington; deputy public affairs officer in Long Beach, Calif. and later in New Orleans; technical advisor and liaison to the Television and Motion Picture Industry Hollywood, Calif. The highlight of his Coast Guard career was meeting the first Coast Guard Journalist Alex Haley and the author “Roots.”
A native New Yorker, Russ majored in mass communications at American University, Washington, D.C. and is a graduate of the Military Photojournalism program, S. I. Newhouse School of Communication, Syracuse University in New York.
