Ascension Class of 1972
"Ascension Lutheran School is an outstanding institution. The education I received there allowed me to obtain a number of academic achievements. I learned to appreciate and enjoy the company of people from different places. This was the mind set that carried me through my career in sales, marketing, politics and education. If you are looking for Jesus you will find him here too."
About Our School
Welcome to Ascension Lutheran School, Home of the Eagles! We are located in Landover Hills, Maryland, just off of Annapolis Road (MD 450), about 1.25 miles inside Exit # 20, off the Capital Beltway. Founded in 1952 as a ministry of Ascension Lutheran Church, we have grown from a small kindergarten to a full elementary and middle school serving students through Grade 8. Our school is accredited by the Middle States Commission of Elementary Schools and National Lutheran Schools Accreditation. Ascension offers a strong preparatory academic curriculum and presents an experienced and caring faculty. At Ascension we strongly affirm that The Christian Teacher Makes the Difference in the quality of the educational program. With a student body of less than two hundred, we are small enough to address the needs of the individual child in caring, Christ-centered, context.
Ascension graduates are highly sought out by area secondary schools. Each year, many graduates are accepted into private schools such as Elizabeth Seton, DeMatha, and Bishop McNamara. A large number of our students also qualify for the special science and technology programs offered by a select group of public high schools such as Eleanor Roosevelt and C.H. Flowers. The excellent foundation in study skills which is emphasized at Ascension is well known and respected by the area high schools.
Admission Policy
Ascension Lutheran School is open to all children who are seeking a Christ-centered education. Ascension Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin. All rights, privileges, programs, and activities are made available to all students. Ascension does not discriminate in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, athletic, or other school-administered programs.
If Ascension cannot meet the fundamental educational needs of a student, that student will not be admitted. If Ascension can minister only minimally to a student, the administration will inform the parents of the school’s limitations and allow the parents to decide whether or not to enroll their child in the school.
Worried about the cost of private school?
Ascension offers a generous financial aid package.
